Campfest 2019

Campfest 2019

Campfest 2019, our 6th biennial event, will be held on Friday 12th July and we really hope your family are planning to come along and join in the fun!

Held on Box Recreation ground, Campfest is our very own mini festival where all the Box Primary children are invited to take part by either performing, getting creative with our theme, making flags, running stalls and much more. Members of the organising team have taken a school assembly recently to let the children know all about it. It would be wonderful if parents encourage and support their children in whatever they have chosen to do.

Auditions

Although called auditions these are really a run through for the children and for us to get an idea of the acts so we can plan a great show. It also gives us an opportunity to encourage and give support and guidance for their rehearsals. These will take place at school on Wednesday 12th June, so there is plenty of time for the children to be working on their star turn. Sign up sheets for the auditions will be in each classroom after half term so please encourage your children to pop their names on it.

In the past we have had an amazing variety of different acts from musicians, comedians, acrobats and poets - the children are welcome to be as imaginative as they like. On the day of the audition we have a panel of judges (just for fun) who will ask the performers to give us a small taster of their act, no costumes or props required but if music is needed we ask this to be on a memory stick/cd or available on YouTube. We then give some positive feedback and any ideas we think may help. If all acts can be no longer than 3½ minutes in total and once we confirm the act for the night, there should be no changes or additions to their act.

This year’s Campfest theme will be ‘Space’ to celebrate 50 years since the first moon landing. Some performers may perhaps like to incorporate this within  their performance and costumes. We can’t wait to see what our talented Box children come up with this year!

T-shirts

We have our very own Campfest T-shirt for sale. It’s a bit of a collector’s item! Every year it is in the colour of a sports day team. This year’s colour is blue. If you don’t know what team your child is in yet, don’t worry, the school will tell you after half term.

T-shirt samples are available in reception for you to view and sizes are below and on the order form.

Get Involved

The Campfest team has been organised by founders Al & Sharon, with Caroline as lead, and the ongoing help of many parents. The team has heaps of exciting ideas up their sleeves designed to involve absolutely all children and their families. From art and craft to trying your hand at face painting, our aim is to make Campfest a very special and memorable evening out for all! So, if your child is not a budding performer, no need to worry, simply come along and enjoy the fun.

We have in place several teams working together to make the event a continual success, if you would like to offer some help, ideas or support, please contact Caroline or Katy in the playground.

There will be a sign-up sheet, for parent help on the stalls, in school reception from the 10th June. Please do pop your name down if you are happy to help for 30 minutes.
