Our vision is something that motivates and inspires us and keeps us focused on where we want to go as a school. It’s a vision for everyone in the school, the children, staff, parents and governors. Our vision is: 

Plant, Nurture, Flourish, Serve
'It's like a mustard seed that man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree and the birds in the sky nested in its branches'.  Luke 13:19

Our vision encapsulates everything we do, from the way we conduct ourselves, both children and adults, to the way we try to do our best every day in school, whether trying our best in Maths, or trying to regulate our behaviour.

Our vision is displayed throughout the school to remind children, staff and the community that our vision drives our actions, thoughts and behaviours. 

As part of our Inset Day on 1st September 2026, as a staff we considered what our vision meant to us. Please see the images below to see what all staff members thought.

Values:

Woven into our vision, are our twelve school values that guide us in the ways that we seek to do things at Box Church of England School. These are based on the Christian faith, but are values that are important to us, whatever our faith or background.

We talk and learn about these values through collective worship and in class, but we try to put them into practice in every situation at school. At Box we live our values. 

We have twelve values which we have chosen for our school. We learn about these in school, thinking about one value in detail each term:

Through our collective worship work, we reflect on key questions each week, before spending time in class reflection on our Big Question.

At the end of the term, we record all our Values work in our Values' Shield Impact Book. Children who have been noted by school staff are awarded the Values shield to recognise going 'above and beyond' in their display of the Value.

Term 1 Responsibility Matthew 24 14–30 You are responsible for the talent that has been entrusted to you.

Our oldest children in school, Sycamore class, have already started to consider what our values mean to them and have created a lovely display in school.

From our vision and values is our ethos of Be your best! All we want from our children is that they use our vision and values to just try their best. This is our very first rule in Box:

Plant the seeds of learning, by trying your best every day. 

Our weekly certificates are also based on this. Each week two children are selected to receive a certifciate from their class teacher.

Vision and the school garden. 

We are very fortunate at Box to have a beautiful school garden, that our vision relates to. Our school garden is a very special and unique part of our school and is enjoyed for its beauty as well as a place to play and learn.  On their journey through school, children are taught gardening jobs and are responsible for areas of the garden.  There are many opportunities for them to plant seeds, nurture plants and watch them flourish.  During our work on the vision, the children are helped to explore how 'plant, nurture, flourish, serve' is a metaphor that can be applied to many aspects of their life.

We plant a wide range of seeds in our children in the form of knowledge, skills and new experiences; we nurture their development (providing extra support where needed) to enable all children to flourish. Children are given opportunities to serve by supporting and helping others, sharing work and expertise and by having responsibilities such as looking after a reception buddy, being a young leader or serving on a school committee such as eco-schools.
