World Book Day

This event will take place on 03/03/2022

2022 marks the 25th anniversary of World Book Day - find out more at https://www.worldbookday.com/2021/09/world-book-day-2022-announcements/

On Thursday 3rd March 2022; to celebrate, the children will be taking part in lots of things “booky!”  We have lots of exciting activities planned for the day, including …

Book character mufti
Children are welcome to come to school dressed as their favourite book/poem character or author.  You might choose to be a ‘Wonky Donkey’, an actual tree house, or you could be Max from Where the Wild Things Are and come to school in your pyjamas.  The possibilities are endless!  If you wish to make a small donation on the day as a celebration of World Book Day, we will be collecting for the charity Book Aid International.

World Book Day live stream launch: Matilda and friends by Roald Dahl
Our World Book Day celebrations commence on Monday 28th February with classes watching a live stream of Matilda and friends, broadcast live from the Cambridge Theatre, London.  As part of this, children will be introduced to the character MC Grammar along with the West End cast of Roald Dahl’s Matilda.

Classic story time
We will end the day with all teachers reading one of their all-time favourite stories to their classes.

World Book Day home learning
In commemoration of 25 years of World Book Day, a whole school home learning task will be set – 25 ‘booky’ things to do as a family’.

World Book Day tokens
Each child has been given a £1.00 World Book Day token.  There are lots of really exciting books written by amazing authors, books for all ages and interests that only cost £1.00.  Have a look at www.worldbookday.com for the full range of books on offer.  The vouchers can be exchanged over a period of time, not just on World Book Day itself and are accepted by most bookshops.
