Take A Bow

Wow! Another incredible week!

Let’s talk about that performance of The Jungle Book. The children did a spectacular job- spectacular being the correct word as it was an absolute spectacular to behold. I (and the whole audience) was absolutely amazed by it all. Everybody has worked incredibly hard to perfect their own parts: the organised, straight-talking Bagheera; the fun-loving, accident prone Baloo; the rebel mancub Mowgli; the sneaky, trickster snake and her dastardly coils; the military Colonel Hathi and his rag-tag bunch of elephants; the energetic, dancing monkeys and their exuberant king; the protective jungle plants; the bored and neglected vultures; and who can forget the terrifying tiger Shere Khan (I think a few of us may have nightmares about that tiger). The whole thing was brought together by the beautiful singing of Shanti and topped off by her family’s calls. But whilst individual performances were remarkable, the highlight for me was the joy in the ensemble: everyone looked like they were having a brilliant time and giving their hearts and souls to the performance.

The Music Centre was a fabulous venue to hold the show in; with the lights, projections (wonderfully drawn backdrops completed by the children) and sound effects adding another dimension to the performance.

And the fun doesn’t stop there- with Thursday being our Young Apprentice fair. The Year 6 children have been busy planning their stall, with a £5 budget each, set to see which team can make the highest profit per person. For us that means an afternoon of cakes for sale, guessing the name of the teddy and throwing wet sponges at children! And all in the name of charity.
