Sycamore Good Citizens

Welcome back to a new term at Box Primary School! Sycamore Class had a very interesting start to the year- attending Junior Good Citizen. It’s an event run by Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire County Council that holds workshops to discuss growing up and different choices you can make. And, as the name suggests, encourages them with how to make good choices to become a good citizen.
One of the workshops involved our children going to prison- well a mock prison cell in a van. They saw how close the bunk bed was to the toilet- very- and imagined what it would be like to live in such close quarters with a complete stranger (mostly the smell….).
They took a walk down hazard alley and all agreed after a mighty shock (no spoilers here, ask Sycamore) that the longer safe route is always the best choice.
They learnt all about the laws and health risks associated with different drugs and tried on some special glasses to experience what being drunk might look like. Let’s just say not many walked in a straight line or managed a high five.
There were so many interesting workshops that it’s impossible to write about them. Needless to say Sycamore had a great time and learnt so much. I can’t wait to see the good citizens they grow to
