Year 6 Jamie's Farm

This week our Year 6s have been on residential at Jamie's Farm Monmouth. It's daunting and exciting to be away from home for a whole week but the children have had so much fun they don't want it to end.

All week they have been doing farm jobs like bottle feeding lambs, grooming horses, chopping wood with axes and generally caring for the animals- no animal has gone short of a cuddle this week. The animal that most children loved this year- and couldn't wait to spend time with- were the chickens! Amazingly true. The chickens were the stand out stars- mostly because how much the children loved picking them up, holding them and even putting them on their shoulders.

The children have also been chefs this week- helping to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have cooked- and eaten- incredibly well. With some going up for third even fourth helpings! Well, who can blame them? The food here is absolutely delicious.

The best part of the week though is how well the children have supported each other. Working as team to problem solve in farm jobs, choosing to work together to carry a massive stick to the top of a hill and supporting each other when feeling down. It has been a privilege to watch them bond as a group- mixing with completely different people than those that they spend time with in school.

We leave today as a closer group- who can't wait to cook at home too! Make the most of it parents!
