Safety, friendship, music!

This week has been an incredibly exciting week for all of our children!
It started with Walksafe: Year 6, Beech Class and Year 1 had a visitor to talk to us about how to be safe on the roads. For the Year 1s the hall was magically turned into a road, complete with crossings, and the children learned how to safely use crossings to cross the road. The Year 3s went one step further and actually went out onto the road and practised this for real.
Friday was a very special day. Chestnut Class led an amazing assembly about friendship. They acting out a very funny sketch about selecting friends and what makes a good friend, shared an acrostic poem with fantastic ideas about being a good friend, shared really thoughtful reflections and tested out our knowledge about friendship with a challenging quiz! Everyone was engrossed from beginning to end- well done Chestnut Class!
And to top it off, we also had a special visitor leading a fascinating concert with a multitude of instruments from the Middle Ages and Tudor times. Our visitor played a shawm, bagpipes, a harp, three different recorders, crumhorn and Vielle and taught us all about how they work and were enjoyed in the past. We joined in with singing and dancing and were disgusted by some facts- like how strings used to be made from intestines!
We can’t wait to see what next week has in store!
